Tank Service, Inc. recently received a very special request to customize ISO Tanks. The tanks will be used to ship a product that extract gold and other precious metals for a mining project outside of the US. The tank will primarily hold a product called Sodium Cyanide and be used for storage, mixing and shipping.

Sodium Cyanide will be loaded into the tank as a dry product and then water will be added to make a solution.  This solution will ultimately be used in the mining process.  The final result of this process will be the extraction of precious metals.

Here is a list of just a few of the specific custom options that were added to the tank for this particular project:

  • Install extra manway (2nd manway)
  • Convert tank from bottom discharge to top-only discharge
  • Add sump to bottom of the tank
  • Extend the bottom discharge provision with metal mesh
  • Add 3” stainless steel sparge line from tank top toward bottom and pipe to run the length of tank

Below are illustrations that our engineer custom designed to assist our customer with specific functions for this tank.

Over the last few months, Tank Service Inc has received a number of questions about offshore equipment, specifically offshore chemical tanks.  Although we can furnish this type of equipment, the down side is that you will have lead times associated with this.  Most of you may not have that much time to secure a project, so we have listened and currently have 1x 1100 gallon offshore tank in stock here in Houston ready to go.

Further, DNV design is not something yet required here int he US but it will slowly get mainstreamed as it already has in other parts of the world.  So what does that this mean to you?  This tank is already DNV designed and approved, so you’ll have no issues if you plan on operating it somewhere else.

Capacity: 4500 Liters

Frame dimensions: 2300mm X 2300mm X 2400mm

Pressure design: 3.0 BAR MAWP

Barrel Material: 316 SS

Please Email me for a full set of specifications for this offshore tank.

This T7 offshore chemical tank is currently available at Tank Service Inc in Houston, Texas.

Hello Friends, it’s been a little while since we last posted but back on-line again.  At the request of several customers, currently there are several IMO-5 tanks on the ground (Houston) with different design pressures.  However, the interesting part about this is that we will show you a dramatic transformation from taking a used IMO-5 ISO Tank into a refurbished unit with many more years of use down the line.

When you call us and/or email us regarding the purchase of a used IMO-5 ISO Tank; there are two options that we like to offer you.  One is to purchase in a ‘as is’ condition (see pictures below) or purchase it fully refurbished with new 5 year test certificate, painted to your choice color and corporate decals.  These IMO-5 range in design pressure from approx 160 psi up to 320 psi.  Email us for more details.

Enjoy the pictures…. email me w/ any questions at andyd (at) tankservice (dot) com

I was talking to gentleman earlier today concerning offshore fuel storage tanks; the requirements called for the ability to lift the tanks off the supply boat to the platforms.  MINI ISO tanks are commonly used for offshore chemical shipments and or fuel distribution.

What about size?  Well, they are called MINI ISO Tanks for a reason; they happen to be half the physical size of a full ISO tank.  10ft x 8ft x 8ft tall.  The options currently available are used carbon steel units, or build new ones to your specific needs.

Note:  MINI ISO tanks have the physical properties noted above, regular offshore tanks can vary in frame design, size and orientation.

Here are a few pictures…

Hello and thank you for your patience.  In light of the recent storm, our offices were down for sometime but I am happy to report that I writing this post from our main offices, fully operational now.

As you can imagine, our priority right now is to get caught up on existing customer’s projects.  Current inventory of used ISO tanks is still running low, with more and more smaller new build offshore tanks and full ISO frame tanks being offered.

I’ll be back once I get caught up…

There are three ways that you can purchase a tank from us, well there are really four ways.

1. Purchase a new unit

2. Purchase a units “as is, where is” condition.

3. Purchase a unit with new certifications, new 5 year test, etc…

4. Purchase a new used unit with the additional cosmetic package, which includes sand blast, paint, corporate decals.

To illustrate the last option, I wanted to show you a few pictures of some ISO tanks that were lucky enough to have a “total body make over”… enjoy…
